INSPIRED BY THE NATURAL WORLD & HISTORY

Welcome to 'Wild Indigo Artisan Design' the home of my imaginings. I'm Sarah Wilkinson and I am a glass artist and jewellery maker based in Cheshire. I have loved glass from an early age, I remember gazing into my mother's glass paperweights and wondering how did they put bubbles, flowers and colours in there? Well, after a 28 year career as a graphic designer I made the move first into jewellery design and then into glass.

Being most at home in the outdoors,
I  find it to be a constant source of inspiration. From the
grandeur of the mountains to the ebb and flow of the oceans and each changing season ... nature is beautiful. Whether I am
using the colours, textures and

transparency of glass or working on a jewellery piece, I try to capture a little of the beauty that I see in abundance in the natural world.

History also serves as a source of inspiration to me. Medieval chainmaille techniques used though the ages in armour are some of the same techniques used in my ladies and gents chainmaille jewellery.
Each
changing era had its own styles and designs, many that we are still influenced by today. I learn something new every day, I am still like a child on Christmas morning each time a fuse has finished and the kiln is cool enough to open. I hope you like my designs as much as I have enjoyed making them.

"When you go home,

           tell them of us and say,

    For their tomorrow,

                     we gave our today."
